Eshowe – Police have launched a manhunt for a former Boxer Superstore employee accused of fatally shooting three female managers during a workplace disciplinary hearing in Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
According to The Citizen, CCTV footage circulating on social media appears to show the suspect entering an office where the women were gathered before opening fire at close range. He allegedly reloaded his firearm and continued shooting before fleeing the scene.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that the suspect had attended an internal disciplinary hearing before the shooting.
“The suspect allegedly produced a firearm and shot three people who were declared dead at the scene,” Netshiunda told TimesLIVE.
The victims were reportedly the store manager, bakery manager and administration manager. Police have not publicly identified the suspect, and investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile, Independent on Saturday reported that one of the victims was Thandiwe Chili, 54, who had worked for Boxer for more than 20 years. Her brother, Khehla Chili, said the family was devastated by her death and called for accountability.
“We want justice,” he said, urging authorities to arrest the suspect and ensure he faces the consequences of his alleged actions.
The family also raised concerns about security procedures at the store, questioning whether adequate measures were in place to prevent employees from bringing weapons onto the premises.
Boxer Stores has expressed condolences to the victims’ families and confirmed that it is cooperating with police while supporting affected employees.
In a statement, the retailer said: “We are working closely with the SAPS and relevant authorities, providing our full cooperation and assistance with the ongoing investigation.”
The company also said its teams across the country observed a moment of remembrance in honour of the three women, adding: “They will not be forgotten.”
Police have appealed to anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. Members of the public are advised not to approach him if they spot him.
