Amaoti – Two friends have been shot dead inside a house in Amaoti, north of Durban, after residents reportedly heard gunfire hours before their bodies were discovered.
The men, aged 26 and 33, were found with multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday evening, 13 October, according to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
RUSA said it received a report of the shooting at approximately 21:03 and immediately dispatched first responders to the scene.
On arrival, reaction officers were told that residents had heard gunshots at about 19:15. They went to investigate and discovered the two men inside the house.
Paramedics examined both victims and declared them dead. Family members were at the scene.
“The identities of the gunmen and the motive for the shooting were not immediately established,” RUSA said.
No information was immediately available about what led to the shooting, and the suspects had not been identified at the time of reporting.
The killings add to concerns about violent crime in KwaZulu-Natal, where police have investigated other fatal shootings in residential areas.
