Johannesburg – Zimbabwean businessman Lawrence Mudzinganyama has been granted R15,000 bail following his arrest over an incident in which he was allegedly seen intimidating women at a Sandton restaurant.
Mudzinganyama, 40, appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where the State asked the court to reconsider his initial release on warning and impose bail in the interests of justice.

He faces three counts of intimidation, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, crimen injuria and one count of fraud, with the charges stemming from an incident at Vlamo Restaurant about two weeks ago.
The incident occurred at Vlamo restaurant at Sandton Gate, where footage allegedly showed Mudzinganyama confronting women inside the restaurant’s ladies’ bathroom after an apparent dispute.
In the video, he is heard saying: “I’ll murder you now and walk” and “I’ll put a bullet in all of you.”
He was arrested and initially released on warning pending the case.

His case has been postponed to 15 October. As part of his bail conditions, Mudzinganyama has surrendered his travel documents, must remain in Gauteng and report to police weekly.
The businessman has also faced scrutiny following the incident, with the Water and Sanitation Department distancing itself from him, while the Transport Minister ordered an investigation into a company linked to him.
Parliament’s Transport Committee has also joined calls for accountability following the incident.
