Durban – Ngizwe Mchunu has withdrawn a case against EFF supporters accused of looting sound equipment during a tense confrontation in Inanda last week on Friday.
According to IOL, Mchunu announced the decision outside the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court, where the accused appeared on charges related to possession of allegedly stolen goods.
The dispute erupted at the Bhambayi Sports Ground as Mchunu prepared for a heritage celebration while the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) was preparing for its KwaZulu-Natal provincial manifesto launch nearby.

SABC News reported that the confrontation escalated after EFF supporters arrived to prepare for the party event. The EFF alleged that Mchunu and his security fired shots, while Mchunu denied the allegations.
Mchunu said he no longer believed pursuing the case would serve a purpose, particularly because those accused were young people.
He said he would engage the sound equipment company and ask its lawyers to withdraw the case, leaving the court to decide how the matter should proceed.
The confrontation had earlier involved allegations of firearms and shots being fired. Mchunu told SABC News that one of his security guards fired an AK-47 into the air after allegedly seeing firearms among the EFF group.
The EFF, however, maintained that Mchunu and his supporters had attempted to disrupt its manifesto preparations.
Mchunu said his heritage event eventually proceeded peacefully after police intervened and expressed hope that those involved had learned from the incident.
