Johannesburg – Layla Kolbe has turned to faith as her husband, Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe, recovers from a broken jaw suffered during South Africa’s 29-24 victory over New Zealand.
Layla shared a heartfelt message on Instagram on Sunday after flying to Johannesburg to be with the 32-year-old Springbok wing following his injury at FNB Stadium.
“The enemy is definitely working overtime and we rebuke and cancel it in Jesus name,” Layla wrote, adding that the family was praying for Cheslin’s “protection, healing, restoration and strength”.

She also celebrated their daughter Kylah, who won a dance competition on the same day, saying she was proud of her daughter and her teammates for “claiming the win” at the end of their dance season.
Layla also praised the Springboks for their performance against the All Blacks.
“And to the Bokke-they always seem to fight even harder when they’re thrown into the deep end. What a team. What a fight,” she wrote.
Cheslin responded to his wife’s message with a heartfelt comment.
“Love you my love. Thank you for everything,” he wrote.
The Springbok star later thanked his wife for travelling to Johannesburg to be with him during his recovery.
“Thank you for all the messages and support. Thank you to my wife for flying up to be here too and doing the most,” he wrote.

Cheslin was forced from the match early in the first half after suffering the jaw injury.
Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed after the match that the injury would rule Kolbe out of the team’s trip to the United States for the fourth Test against New Zealand.
“It was intense. It was a seriously good Test match in everything that it means because we were tested to our limits,” Erasmus said.

“We lost Cheslin and I’m sorry to tell you that he has broken his jaw.”
Kolbe’s injury came as South Africa secured a 2-1 lead in the four-match series, with the final Test scheduled to take place in Baltimore.
The Springboks will therefore have to finish the series without one of their key players, while Kolbe begins his recovery with his family beside him.
