Cape Town – Actress Nandipha Mbatha has opened up about her battle with depression and anxiety, revealing that she attempted to take her own life several times.
Mbatha made the revelation in a video shared on the Until All Are Found social media pages, where she reflected on the two-year period in which she struggled with her mental health.
“I went through so many things like depression and anxiety, and I was about to take my life. I had been trying for a very long time,” she said.
The actress recalled reaching a point where she felt exhausted and no longer wanted to continue living.
“I was at a point where I was just tired, and I just really wanted to end it all because I was supposed to be happy but I wasn’t happy,” Mbatha said.
She said a spiritual experience during one of her darkest moments changed how she viewed her suffering.
“I saw Jesus in my apartment that night,” she said.

According to Mbatha, she believed Jesus reassured her that although she was suffering, she would eventually overcome the difficulties she was facing.
The actress said her faith later became an important part of her journey, particularly after she was baptised.
“I just knew in my heart that after I get baptised I will no longer suffer with anxiety and depression,” she said.
Mbatha has since used her experience to encourage others who may be battling similar struggles.
She said people facing difficult circumstances should not lose hope and urged them to turn to their faith.
“Believe that Jesus is able to set you free from whatever you’re going through,” she said.
Mbatha described her experience as her testimony of what she believes faith has helped her overcome.
“If there’s anything that you’re struggling with, you can run to Him and He’ll save you from it, because that is my testimony. That’s what He did for me,” she said.
