Johannesburg – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the dismissal of Major General Feroz Khan following his failure to appear before a senior officer handling his disciplinary proceedings.
In a statement, SAPS said Khan “was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations” after he failed to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for the expeditious disciplinary process.
“SAPS reiterates its commitment to accountability, discipline and professional conduct within the organisation,” the police service said.
It added: “No member, regardless of rank or position, is above the law or the applicable disciplinary framework.”
SAPS said the matter had been the subject of legal proceedings and that it would continue to respect court decisions while providing further information where legally permissible.
“As the matter has been the subject of legal proceedings, SAPS will continue to respect and abide by the decisions of the courts and provide further information where legally permissible,” the statement said.
The dismissal comes as the police service continues to emphasise accountability and adherence to its disciplinary framework among its members, regardless of rank or position.
