Cape Town – South African dancer, choreographer and musician Limpopo Boy’s management has broken its silence over an intimate video of the performer that has been circulating online, describing its distribution as “unauthorised and malicious”.
Limpopo Boy, whose real name is Robert Matome Thoka, is an internationally recognised dancer and choreographer from Limpopo who has built a substantial following through his work in dance and music.
The performer has graced some of South Africa’s biggest entertainment platforms, including the Global Citizen Festival, the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and the MTV Base Awards.
His career gained momentum after he appeared at the South African State Theatre’s Show Your Talent in 2016. He has since worked and performed alongside several prominent South African artists, including Makhadzi, Sho Madjozi, DJ Cleo, Dr Malinga, Lady Zamar and King Monada.
Limpopo Boy has also taken his talents beyond South Africa, performing and teaching dance internationally. In July 2023, he won the Brussels Dance Battle in Belgium, competing in several dance categories.
His international work has taken him to countries including the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Belgium and China, where he has showcased South African dance styles such as amapiano, pantsula and sbujwa.
The dancer has also built a significant social media presence, with 4.1 million followers on Facebook, 1.1 million on Instagram and 2 million on TikTok.
His management has now condemned the circulation of the intimate video, saying it was obtained and distributed without his permission.
“This content was stolen without consent and shared entirely without authorisation. This is a serious violation of privacy and a criminal matter,” the statement said.
The footage appears to have originally been posted on Facebook Stories under the account Limpopo Boy RSA before being circulated more widely across social media platforms.
The video shows Limpopo Boy in a private setting with a woman before the camera is turned towards him. The footage contains sexually explicit material, which his management says was never authorised for public distribution.
His team said it has launched an investigation into how the footage was obtained and shared, with cybersecurity experts and legal representatives being brought in.
“We are in the process of engaging cybersecurity experts to investigate the source of this breach. We are actively working with legal teams and hosting platforms to ensure the immediate removal of these links and files.”
The management has urged members of the public not to share, download or engage with links containing the footage, warning that doing so could cause further harm to the performer.
“We kindly request the public to refrain from sharing, downloading, or interacting with the links, as distributing the content is unlawful and causes further harm.”
Although comments on the original social media post may have been disabled, the video has continued to generate discussion online as users react to its circulation.

Limpopo Boy’s management has maintained that the focus should be on protecting the artist’s privacy and stopping the further spread of the footage.
