Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa says he is confident that Deputy President Paul Mashatile will soon return to work following a minor surgical procedure.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Presidency said Ramaphosa visited Mashatile during his recovery and was encouraged by his progress.
“President Cyril Ramaphosa is pleased with the recovery of Deputy President Paul Mashatile following a minor surgical procedure. The President visited the Deputy President this afternoon and was assured that his Deputy will soon be back at work,” the statement said.
The statement did not disclose the nature of the procedure or when it was performed but described it as minor.
Ramaphosa wished Mashatile a speedy recovery and expressed confidence that he would resume his official duties in the near future.
Mashatile’s temporary absence comes as the government continues with its programme of work, with the Presidency indicating that the Deputy President is recovering well and is expected to return to his responsibilities soon.
