Cape Town – Radio and television presenter Anele Mgudlwa has spoken out after claims surfaced suggesting she underwent gastric bypass surgery to lose weight.
Gastric bypass is a type of bariatric surgery that aids weight loss by altering how the stomach and small intestine process food.
In a clip from her radio show, Anele & The Club, shared on social media, Mgudlwa addressed the speculation, saying she had been surprised by how confidently someone assumed she had undergone the procedure.
While she made it clear that she has no issue with people choosing weight-loss surgery, she also revealed that she was familiar with the process and even discussed details of the treatment with the woman who made the assumption.
“There’s a lady that thought, that assumed that I did gastric bypass and that’s how I lost the weight. You got the surgery, please, thumbs up. You’ve got the money, you’ve got the time to recover. And also, the thing is, I had a little bit too much information. Like, I knew exactly, and I was like, no. At the hospital in Turkey, tell them that there’s an aftercare house. Tell them that you wanna stay there for two weeks,” she said.
This is not the first time Mgudlwa has responded light-heartedly to speculation about cosmetic procedures.

Earlier, while updating fans after being stranded at an airport, she joked about rumours that she had undergone a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), saying sitting for long periods would have been much more comfortable if the rumours were true.

“It just dawned on me that my bottom is getting sore, been sitting down for long. And then I thought to myself, if I had a BBL, I wouldn’t have these problems, because basically a BBL is like, on mattress, eh? Just plastered to your bottom. So wherever you sit, you’re comfortable. Like, I’d just fall asleep anywhere if I had a BBL,” she said.
