Cape Town – Western Cape police have launched a murder investigation after three men were shot dead in Site B, Khayelitsha, on Friday afternoon.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the victims, aged 30, 31 and 32, were found with multiple gunshot wounds at a property in Mofala Street shortly before 4pm.
Police said officers responded to a complaint at approximately 3.50pm.
“At approximately 15:50, police responded to a complaint at Mofala Street, Site B, where they found the victims with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” SAPS said in a statement.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attackers arrived at the property looking for the victims before carrying out the fatal shooting.
“Preliminary information indicates that two unidentified armed men arrived at the premises and made enquiries about the victims before proceeding to a structure at the back of the property,” police said.
“Shortly thereafter, gunshots were heard. The suspects were then seen fleeing the scene in a white Hyundai motor vehicle, travelling in an unknown direction.”
Police said the motive for the killings remains unknown.
“The motive for the attack forms part of the ongoing investigation and detectives are pursuing all available leads. No arrests have been made,” SAPS said.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit anonymous tips via the MySAPSApp.
The investigation is continuing.
