Cape Town – A South African man wearing a Springbok jersey has gone viral in the United States after he was found asleep in the back of a stranger’s bakkie following UFC Fight Night in Oklahoma, where South African champion Dricus du Plessis defeated Kamaru Usman.
The driver, Jaden Huck, who appeared amused by the unexpected discovery, filmed the moment the apparently intoxicated fan woke up and realised he was in Edmond, Oklahoma.
“Are you ok? You good?”
“You’re all the way in Edmond, Oklahoma”.
After thanking Huck, the Springbok fan climbed out of the vehicle and was later picked up by a friend, according to The South African.

The video, which was shared by US broadcaster News9 and later reposted by Huck, drew widespread amusement online, with many South Africans joking that the fan had enjoyed too much “brannas”. Dricus du Plessis’ fiancée, Vasti Spiller, also liked the clip.
Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) Deputy Director-General Clayson Monyela joined the conversation on X, joking that the man was “definitely a candidate for consular assistance”.
He is definetely a candidate for Consular Assistance. Our people pop up everywhere!

The incident comes ahead of the Springboks’ historic Test match against the United States on 12 September, the first meeting between the two nations on American soil, as the US prepares to host the 2031 Rugby World Cup.
