Tongaat – A 27-year-old KwaZulu-Natal man has gone missing after allegedly falling victim to a job scam and sending a message indicating that he intended to take his own life.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Sandile Lindokuhle Mkhize was last seen on Monday, 13 July, after travelling to Tongaat in search of employment.
RUSA said Mkhize had reportedly submitted his curriculum vitae (CV) at a municipal department before receiving a phone call instructing him to return to make arrangements to start work.
However, his girlfriend later informed reaction officers that Mkhize had sent her a message claiming he had been the victim of a job scam and had lost a substantial amount of money.
“He added that he was leaving Tongaat – KZN and returning home to Cottonlands – KZN, but said he felt like ending his life. His cellphone has been switched off since then and there has been no further communication. His current whereabouts remain unknown,” RUSA said.

RUSA has appealed to members of the public who may have information about Mkhize’s whereabouts to come forward.
