Cape Town – The Western Cape High Court is hearing President Cyril Ramaphosa’s urgent application to suspend Parliament’s Section 89 impeachment process while he challenges the independent panel’s findings on the Phala Phala matter.
Ramaphosa argues that allowing the process to continue before the review is decided would cause irreparable harm to his reputation.

However, the impeachment committee opposes the application, maintaining that its work should proceed and has already scheduled a meeting next week to discuss evidence leaders and its terms of reference.
The court is expected to hear the interdict application over two days.
