Durban – A family holiday ended on a sour note after burglars allegedly broke into their home in Everest Heights, KwaZulu-Natal, during the early hours of Sunday morning, making off with jewellery, electronics and cash.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the burglary occurred while the homeowners were away on holiday.
RUSA said its members were dispatched to the property after a neighbour noticed signs of a break-in at about 02:00 on Sunday.
Upon arrival, reaction officers found that the suspects had allegedly forced open the front gate by breaking the latch and lock before gaining entry through the front door.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the burglars stole jewellery, a PlayStation 4 gaming console, a Dell laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The total value of the stolen items has not yet been determined.
No arrests have been reported, and the suspects remain at large.
The circumstances surrounding the burglary are under investigation.
