Cape Town – The Riky Rick Foundation for the Promotion of Artivism, in partnership with the Naledi Village Communal Property Association and Rustlers Valley Regenerative Farm and Eco-Tourism, will launch the Riky Rick/Anton Chaka Memorial Forest on 18 and 19 July 2026 in the Eastern Free State.
The two-day event will take place at the Rustlers Valley Regenerative Farm and Eco-Tourism and is set to commemorate both Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July and the birthday of the late South African rapper and cultural icon Riky Rick, which falls on 20 July.
The memorial forest has been created as a lasting tribute to the legacies of Anton Chaka, Frik Grobbelaar and Riky Rick. Organisers describe the initiative as a living space dedicated to remembrance, healing, regeneration and hope.

Guests attending the launch will take part in tree planting, storytelling and land restoration activities, while celebrating the lives and lasting influence of the three men whose contributions continue to inspire communities and future generations.
According to the organisers, the memorial forest is intended to be more than a symbolic tribute. It aims to create a space where people can connect with nature, reflect on the legacies of those being honoured and contribute to environmental restoration through collective action.
The Riky Rick Foundation for the Promotion of Artivism, together with the Naledi Village Communal Property Association and Rustlers Valley Regenerative Farm and Eco-Tourism, has invited members of the public and supporters to be part of what it describes as the beginning of a meaningful, long-term initiative.
Carrying the message, “Together, we grow legacy into life,” the memorial forest launch seeks to celebrate lives remembered not only through words, but through a living legacy that will continue to flourish for years to come.
