Mpumalanga – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga has confirmed that departmental steps will be taken against a member who appeared in a video circulating on social media dancing while in full police uniform.
The video, which has drawn widespread attention online, shows the officer singing and dancing while dressed in official SAPS attire.
SAPS management said the conduct is a clear violation of the organisation’s policies and Code of Conduct, which prohibit members from recording or sharing content in uniform that could bring the service into disrepute.
“Such conduct is a clear contravention of the policies and Code of Conduct of the SAPS. Members are prohibited from recording videos or content in uniform as that brings the Service into disrepute,” the statement read.
The police service emphasised that officers are expected to maintain discipline and professionalism at all times while in uniform.
The member involved has since been identified, and SAPS said internal disciplinary processes will follow.

“The SAPS will not hesitate to take decisive action against any member whose conduct tarnishes the image of the organisation,” the service added.
The incident has sparked discussion on the use of social media by law enforcement officers and the enforcement of internal conduct regulations.
