Durban – A 47-year-old man has been found dead approximately 20 metres down an embankment along the southbound lane of the R102 in Ottawa, KwaZulu-Natal.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said the man, whose identity has been withheld, was located on Saturday morning, 20 June 2026, after he was reported missing during a morning jog.
According to RUSA, the man had been jogging with his wife and another individual when he reportedly fell behind. After noticing that he was no longer with them, the pair returned to search for him and found him down the embankment near the roadway.
“His jacket and cap were found next to the metal barrier along the side of the road,” RUSA said.
Members of RUSA were called to the scene at approximately 07:57. On arrival, paramedics assessed the jogger and confirmed that he had died.
“Paramedics assessed the Jogger and noted an injury to his right eye as well as bleeding from his nose,” the emergency response organisation said.
The circumstances surrounding the man’s death have not yet been established, and investigations are ongoing.
RUSA said further details would be released as more information becomes available.
