Ten nations, a mixed run of results – here is exactly where every African side stands at the World Cup right now.
South Africa (Group A)
Bafana Bafana fought back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Czechia. Teboho Mokoena’s late penalty secured South Africa’s first point of the competition in a much improved performance for Hugo Broos’ side. They sit fourth on one point and face South Korea in a must-win clash on 25 June.
Morocco (Group C)
Morocco held five-time champions Brazil to a 1-1 draw, with Ismael Saibari’s opener cancelled out by Vinicius Junior. They sit second on one point and face Scotland next.

Ivory Coast (Group E)
Amad Diallo’s 90th-minute winner gave Ivory Coast a 1-0 victory over Ecuador. The 2024 African champions are in second on three points and face Germany next on 20 June.
Tunisia (Group F)
Tunisia were hammered 5-1 by Sweden, a result that led to coach Sabri Lamouchi’s reported dismissal. They sit bottom on zero points and face Japan on 21 June.
Egypt (Group G)
Egypt were denied a famous win by Belgium, with Emam Ashour’s strike cancelled out by a Mohamed Hany own goal forced by Romelu Lukaku. They are fourth on one point and face New Zealand on 22 June.

Cape Verde (Group H)
The Blue Sharks produced one of the shocks of the tournament, holding Spain to a 0-0 draw on their World Cup debut. They sit fourth on one point and face Uruguay on 22 June.
Senegal (Group I)
Senegal fought hard but fell 3-1 to France, with teenager Ibrahim Mbaye’s late consolation arriving too late. They sit bottom on zero points and face Norway on 23 June.
Algeria (Group J)
Algeria were thrashed 3-0 by Messi and Argentina. They sit bottom on zero points and face Jordan on 23 June.
DR Congo (Group K)
DR Congo drew 1-1 with Portugal courtesy of Yoane Wissa’s equaliser. They sit second on one point and face Colombia next on 24 June.
Ghana (Group L)
Caleb Yirenkyi’s 95th-minute winner gave Ghana a 1-0 victory over Panama, the Black Stars’ first points of the tournament. They sit second on three points and face group-leaders England on 23 June.
