Cape Town – Reaction officers and paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) rescued a 72-year-old diabetic pensioner from her Trenance Park home in KwaZulu-Natal after she spent several hours trapped on the floor following a fall.
“Reaction Officers used a bolt cutter to remove the lock on the gate and forced open the front door with a crowbar to gain entry. She was found lying beneath a dressing table and had remained there for several hours. Officers removed the furniture, allowing RUSA Paramedics to assess her condition.”
After removing the furniture, RUSA paramedics assessed her condition and determined that she was suffering from critically low blood sugar levels. The woman, who is diabetic and relies on insulin treatment, was stabilised at the scene before being transported to a medical facility for further treatment.
No further details on her condition were immediately available.
