The police service said internal departmental processes are currently underway and declined to comment further.
“Internal departmental processes are currently underway, and in the interest of preserving the integrity of these processes, the SAPS will not provide further comment at this stage,” the statement read.
The latest suspensions add to a growing list of senior police officials implicated in investigations linked to the Medicare 24 tender, which has come under intense scrutiny amid allegations of irregularities.
No criminal charges have been announced against the suspended officers, and SAPS has indicated that further information will be released once the internal processes have been concluded.
The developments come as authorities continue efforts to strengthen accountability and governance within the police service.
