Mpumalanga – Police have recovered two bodies from the Crocodile River as search efforts continue for a third person believed to have been with the deceased at the time of the incident.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed on Monday that search and recovery operations resumed at approximately 9am in an effort to locate the missing individual.
According to police, family members believe a third victim was with the two deceased persons before they disappeared.
“The search for a third victim, whom family members believe was with the two deceased persons, resumed at approximately 09:00 this morning,” SAPS said in an update.
Authorities said the search operation remains ongoing, with police and rescue teams continuing to scour the area.
Police have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending the notification of next of kin.
“The search operation is ongoing, and investigations continues,” SAPS said.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and police have indicated that further details will be provided as they become available.
The discovery of the two bodies has prompted an extensive search effort as authorities seek to determine exactly what happened and whether a third person is still missing.
No arrests have been reported, and police have not disclosed the cause of death of the recovered victims.
