Cape Town – South African music sensation Black Coffee is still soaking in the success of his historic performance at The O2 Arena after delivering one of the biggest and most memorable shows of his career.
The Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, headlined a sold-out three-hour Afropolitan House set on Friday, 22 May, captivating audiences with a breathtaking fusion of electronic music, a live orchestra, a choir and several surprise guest appearances, including global superstar Alicia Keys.

Born in Durban and raised in the Eastern Cape, Black Coffee’s journey to international stardom has been one of passion, resilience and undeniable talent. He first rose to prominence in South Africa in the early 2000s through his unique blend of deep house music infused with African rhythms and soulful sounds.
Over the years, he has become one of Africa’s most celebrated musical exports, performing on some of the world’s biggest stages and collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists such as Drake, Usher, David Guetta and Alicia Keys.
His groundbreaking career has earned him numerous accolades, including a historic Grammy Awards win for Best Dance/Electronic Album for Subconsciously, making him the first African DJ to achieve the honour. He has also received multiple South African Music Awards and international recognition for his contribution to dance music.
Despite his global success, Black Coffee has remained deeply connected to his African roots, often using his music to celebrate African culture and creativity on the world stage.

Days after his landmark London performance, the DJ took to Instagram to express gratitude to fans who filled the iconic arena and helped turn his vision into reality.
“This past Friday has left me speechless. Every small detail put together created an absolute dream, from the special guests to the orchestra then the choir and surprises sprinkled throughout. This one came from the heart, London. Thank you for joining me on this journey at the @theo2london,” he wrote.
The performance marked yet another defining moment in Black Coffee’s remarkable career a journey that began in South Africa and has since grown into a global musical legacy.
