Limpopo – Police in Vaalwater, Limpopo, are investigating a murder after a 41-year-old man died following an alleged tavern fight in Extension 2 in the early hours of Sunday, 17 May 2026.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the altercation reportedly began inside a local tavern before spilling outside, where it escalated further.
It is alleged that several individuals were assaulted with stones and bottles during the fight. One of the victims sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby clinic, where he later died.
The motive for the fight remains unclear, and police say circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
