Durban – A man was shot and killed shortly after leaving a house where he had been watching an Orlando Pirates match in Osindisweni, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday afternoon.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the shooting occurred at approximately 16:55 on 16 May 2026, after reports of gunfire were received and reaction officers were dispatched to the scene.
Witnesses said the victim had been watching the football match with several people before leaving the residence and walking towards his nearby home. Moments later, multiple gunshots were heard.
Residents rushed outside and found the man lying unconscious on the roadside. He was transported privately to hospital in a critical condition before RUSA officers arrived.
Police confirmed that the victim later succumbed to his injuries. He had sustained seven gunshot wounds to the chest. Several spent 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene.
The motive for the killing remains unknown and police investigations are ongoing.
