Mpumalanga – Police in Pienaar are investigating a case of kidnapping and attempted murder after a 47-year-old man was allegedly abducted, shot multiple times and left for dead near a cemetery along Luphisa Road.
According to the South African Police Service, the incident occurred on 12 May 2026.
The victim, identified as Leonard Iman Milazi, was discovered by a SAPS Search and Rescue Team that had been searching the area for a missing woman.
“The victim was discovered by the SAPS Search and Rescue Team while searching for a missing woman. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds and airlifted to hospital in a stable condition,” police said in a statement.
Police said Milazi told investigators he had travelled to Pienaar after receiving a request to provide a quotation for the installation of CCTV cameras at a school.
“According to the victim, Leonard Iman Milazi, he was responding to a request for a CCTV installation quotation for a certain school when he arrived in Pienaar,” the statement said.
Police allege that shortly after arriving, Milazi was kidnapped by unknown suspects travelling in an old-model white Mercedes-Benz.
“The suspects reportedly accused him of stealing a laptop before shooting him multiple times,” SAPS said.
Investigations into the incident are continuing, and police have appealed to members of the public for information that may assist in the case.
