Mahikeng – Three suspects have been shot dead following a confrontation with police in Mahikeng, North West, after an earlier ATM bombing in Zeerust.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), members of the National Intervention Unit (NIU) tracked the suspects to a house in Magogoe, where they were cornered.
Police said a shootout ensued between officers and the suspects at the property, resulting in all three suspects being fatally wounded.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects were linked to an ATM bombing incident in Zeerust prior to the confrontation.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner was en route to the scene on Wednesday as investigations continued.
Police have not yet released the identities of the suspects, and further details are expected as the situation develops.
