Cape Town – Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of a vehicle belonging to an elderly Fishhoek resident, following a swift police response and coordinated patrol efforts across the southern suburbs.
According to Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, the incident began on Saturday when an elderly resident reported the theft of their white Mazda 323 sedan in Fish Hoek.
The case was opened with the South African Police Service (SAPS), and details of the vehicle were circulated.
“On Monday afternoon, a Traffic officer on patrol in Tokai received information that the vehicle had been spotted in the suburb of Kirstenhof.
A 43-year-old man from Fish Hoek and a 33-year-old woman from Sunnydale were taken into custody and handed over to Kirstenhof SAPS. They are facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Authorities have praised the quick response by law enforcement in locating and recovering the vehicle.
