During the shootout, officers recovered three unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The injured suspect was arrested and is under police guard. Cases of murder, attempted murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms have been opened.
Brigadier Brenda Muridili highlighted the ongoing threat of syndicates targeting tourists. “We believe we are cracking the back of the syndicate because early this month, there was also an arrest of two people with the same modus operandi,” she said. Investigations by Serious and Violent Crimes Investigations and Crime Intelligence are continuing.
Police urged the public to report criminal activity via Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or the MySAPS App.
