Cape Town – A deadly shooting near the Palm taxi rank in Delft claimed the lives of a 50-year-old man, believed to be a taxi owner, and a woman on Monday night.
The victims were ambushed in a private vehicle by unknown gunmen.
“Two people, a husband and wife were shot and killed this evening in a driveby shooting in their vehicle in Sandelhout Street, Delft South,” anti-rime ativist Yusuf Abramjee said in a social media post.

This marks the second fatal taxi-related incident in Delft in under a week, following a shooting at the Voorbrug taxi rank that killed three people.
According to EWN, Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA) said the latest killing may be linked to ongoing conflicts in Cape Town’s taxi industry, though evidence is not confirmed.
CODETA chairperson Nceba Enge urged calm as police continue investigations.
Despite the violence, taxi operations in Delft continue as normal, and authorities have launched a manhunt for those responsible.
