The case against Bellarmine Mugabe and co-accused Tobias Matonhodze has been postponed to 24 March.
The case against the two accused had been postponed last week after both indicated they intended to pursue a plea deal with the state and abandoned their bail applications.
On Tuesday, the court was told that discussions were “at an advanced stage but had not yet been concluded,” as input from a senior public prosecutor was being awaited.
State prosecutor Lufuno Maphiri explained, “Unfortunately, he is not in the office; he is committed elsewhere.”

As a result, the state requested more time to finalise the agreement. The matter is now scheduled to resume on Tuesday, 24 March. Maphiri assured the court, “The state is, rest assured, that on that particular day, the plea will proceed.”
The pair faces charges including attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and pointing a firearm, following a February shooting that injured a 23-year-old gardener at the Mugabe residence in Hyde Park.
Their lawyers indicated they plan to pursue a plea deal with the prosecution.
