Limpopo – Two Grade 11 learners have been arrested for allegedly stealing a laptop from a teacher’s office at a local school in Sebayeng, Limpopo.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the suspects, both aged 20, were arrested on Friday following intelligence-led information about stolen property.
According to police, the alleged theft took place on Thursday when the two learners reportedly entered a teacher’s office at the school and stole a laptop.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged incident occurred on Thursday, 12 March 2026, when the suspects reportedly entered a teacher’s office at the school and stole a laptop,” SAPS said in a statement.
Police followed up on the information, which led officers to Sebayeng village, where the laptop had allegedly been hidden.
The device, valued at about R20 000, was recovered by police and seized as evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

“A case of theft was immediately registered at Sebayeng SAPS, and investigations commenced. The recovered laptop has been seized and will form part of the ongoing investigation,” the police said.
The two suspects are expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 16.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Thembi Hadebe, praised officers for acting quickly after receiving intelligence.
“Criminal behavior, regardless of the age or status of those involved, will not be tolerated. We commend our members for acting swiftly on intelligence information, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen property,” Hadebe said.
She also urged young people to stay focused on their education.
“We also urge learners to focus on their education and avoid engaging in criminal activities that may negatively affect their future,” she added.
Police said investigations into the incident are continuing.
