Cape Town – Three people were killed and a teenage girl injured after gunmen stormed a house in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, in a brazen daytime attack.
The shooting took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Rocklands area when police responded to reports of gunfire at a house in Viscount Street at about 16:50.
Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said the suspects allegedly forced their way into the home before opening fire on the occupants.
“Three unidentified males allegedly concealed their faces with balaclavas, entered the house and opened fire on the occupants before fleeing the scene,” Traut said.
Three people were killed during the attack, including a 39-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man and a 36-year-old man.
A 15-year-old girl who was injured in the shooting was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics for medical treatment.
Police believe the attackers may have carefully planned the assault. According to Traut, the suspects reportedly arrived at the property in a grey vehicle before entering the house and carrying out the shooting.
