Thunderstorm

Durban – Disaster management teams in KwaZulu-Natal remain on high alert following a Yellow Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms across much of the province.

The Weather Service warns that southern areas are likely to experience heavy rain, damaging winds, hail, and intense lightning, which could cause flooding, infrastructure damage, and hazardous travel conditions.

Senzelwe Mzila, spokesperson for the provincial COGTA Department, urged residents to stay vigilant.

“The MEC for COGTA Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi has placed all of our teams on high alert. These teams are working closely with social partners and communities to ensure that these weather conditions do not pose any risk to human lives… areas expected to be affected include uGu, Harry Gwala, and parts of uThukela and uMgungundlovu districts,” Mzila said, according to SAB News.
