Manguang – Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of two women in Namibia Square, Manguang, the Free State police confirmed on Sunday.
The suspects, aged between 31 and 40, were taken into custody following an intelligence-led operation coordinated by the Provincial Tracking and Tracing Team in collaboration with the Parkweg Tactical Response Team (TRT).
Police said the breakthrough came after officers on patrol discovered the bodies of two women lying in a pool of blood at approximately 01:50 on Sunday morning, 08 February. Both victims had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the back of the head and were declared dead at the scene.

“The breakthrough follows a gruesome discovery made by members on patrol in the early hours of Sunday morning,” said a spokesperson from Arrive Alive.
Following the discovery, authorities immediately launched an investigation. Acting on information from the community, police intercepted a white Toyota Quantum with four occupants on the same street where the murders occurred.
“Upon searching the vehicle and the occupants, police recovered one unlicensed 9mm pistol with six rounds of live ammunition,” the spokesperson said. “The five suspects, all foreign nationals, were immediately taken into custody.”
The suspects now face multiple charges, including two counts of murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and contravention of the Immigration Act. They are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the killings and to formally identify the two victims. Authorities are also probing a separate murder that occurred on Saturday in Meadows Road.
