Free State — The South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a manhunt following the discovery of three women murdered in two separate incidents over the past weekend.
According to police, the latest incident occurred in Namibia Square in the early hours of Sunday, 8 February 2026.
“At approximately 01:50, members of the Bloemspruit Crime Prevention performing routine patrols in Namibia Square made a gruesome discovery,” the SAPS reported. Officers found two women lying near a residential property.
The victims, estimated to be in their late twenties, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the back of the head.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, where both women were pronounced dead. SAPS provided a description of the victims’ clothing: one wore light blue jeans with a green hoodie, while the other was dressed in a blue denim top and black denim jeans.

This discovery followed an earlier killing on Saturday, 7 February 2026, when police found the body of an unknown female, approximately in her mid-thirties, lying on the side of Meadows Road. She had also sustained gunshot wounds to the head.
At this stage, the identities of all three women remain unknown.
“No identification documents were found at either scene. The motive for the killings is currently under investigation, and no arrests have been made,” SAPS said.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance.
“Anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the deceased women, or information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Machalotsa of the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime (Murder and Robbery Unit) on 073 729 1732, or #CrimeStop at 08600 10111 or drop an anonymous tip-off via the #MySAPSApp,” the police statement added.
Police in Bloemspruit are intensifying patrols in the area as investigations continue.
