Cape Town – Capitec Bank has confirmed its 2026 banking fee schedule, largely maintaining the simplified pricing structure introduced last year, with only a handful of changes taking effect from 1 March 2026, the bank said.
According to the official Capitec website, the core fees that many customers use daily remain the same, reinforcing the bank’s approach to simple and transparent banking.
Capitec lists the key transactional costs under its 2026 pricing model:
Capitec 2026 Key Banking Charges:
-
Monthly administration fee: R7.50
-
Payments between Capitec accounts: R1
-
Payments to other South African banks: R2
-
Debit orders: R3
-
Immediate payments to other banks: R6
-
ATM cash withdrawals (per R1 000) at any bank: R10
-
Voucher fee: R3 (up from R2)
-
Balance enquiry on international Mastercard machines: R2 (down from R3)
-
Smart ID service fee (in-branch, DHA partnership): R10 (plus DHA standard fee of R140)
-
Entrepreneur Card issued in branch: R70
In a statement on its site, Capitec explained the philosophy behind its pricing approach: “What you see is what you pay. We keep fees simple to beat complex banking,” emphasising that the straightforward fee structure is designed to make everyday banking more predictable for its clients.
According to BusinessTech, the pricing strategy that Capitec introduced in 2025 — which simplified over 30 fee points into clear tiers — continues this year, and fees for routine transactions such as interbank payments or immediate payments remain unchanged. While some new services carry charges, the core structure that has attracted millions of customers stays stable.
Capitec is South Africa’s biggest bank by customer numbers, serving more than 25 million clients, and its approach to transparent and competitive banking fees particularly compared with many of the country’s older banking institutions has been a key part of its growth strategy.
