Durban – Former president Jacob Zuma, leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, will make announcements on the party’s recent developments on Friday in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal.
“H.E. President Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma will be making announcements on the uMkhonto weSizwe party’s recent developments on Friday, 6 February, in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal,” the party’s national spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, said in statement.
The MK party has been undergoing key leadership changes, including the appointment of corruption-accused former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe as treasurer-general, replacing Mpiyakhe Limba.

Molefe resigned as an MP to focus on strengthening the party’s financial capacity, following a directive from Zuma aimed at improving organisational efficiency, resource mobilisation, and economic liberation efforts.
The party has gained notable electoral success, now polling at 15%, making it the country’s third-largest party behind the ANC and DA.
This rise has sparked controversy, with former president Thabo Mbeki claiming apartheid-era security structures were “activated” to favour MK’s success — a claim the party strongly rejected.
