Cape Town – A 33-year-old British hiker was injured after slipping and falling while descending the Platteklip Gorge trail in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon.
She sustained multiple injuries and was unable to continue hiking.
Emergency services were alerted by passing hikers, prompting Wilderness Search and Rescue teams to respond.
After receiving initial treatment on the mountain, the woman was airlifted by helicopter to a landing zone and then taken to hospital by ambulance.
The WSAR praised the professionalism of the aircrew involved in the resue operation and wished the hiker a full recovery.
“We are privileged to work alongside such capable aircrews,” a WSAR representative said.
“Their approach to airmanship and teamwork is vital in safely bringing patients off the mountain.”
