The State claims tender processes were flouted, contracts were irregularly awarded, and Transnet suffered losses amounting to billions of rand.
Gigaba is also accused of receiving undisclosed cash from the Gupta family during his tenure as Minister of Public Enterprises.
Following his first court appearance, Gigaba stepped aside from ANC activities, a move welcomed by the party as consistent with its renewal agenda.
The matter returns to court on 19 February 2026.
