Johannesburg – Heavy thunderstorms reportedly caused partial flooding at OR Tambo International Airport’s Domestic Terminal B on Friday evening, sending water across sections of the departures check-in area and temporarily submerging the main R21 offramp into the airport.
According to The Citizen, airport operator ACSA said it was still assessing possible damage to check-in equipment, electrical feeds and other ground infrastructure, but confirmed that no flights were delayed and operations were continuing as normal.
There’s hail as you enter OR Tambo and cars are parked right under the bridge in fear of hail damage thus causing a roadblock 🥹#easterncape #tribalism #Ortambo pic.twitter.com/IpDFBInxv2
