Durban — A 38-year-old Malawian national was arrested on Thursday afternoon after three motorcycles were recovered from the living room of his rented residence on Fairview Drive in Brindhaven.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), members of RUSA, TNT Security Services, and the Trans Natal Flying Squad carried out an intelligence-driven operation at the property. The search also led to the recovery of twelve motorcycle top boxes.
In a statement, RUSA confirmed: “Two (2) of the motorcycles were confirmed to be stolen, while investigations continue to determine the status of the third. One (1) of the bikes was reported stolen earlier today from Hambanathi, KZN. At the time of the operation, two (2) motorcycles were found being stripped for parts.”
Authorities believe the suspect is linked to a syndicate targeting the theft of delivery motorcycles. The suspect was arrested and detained at SAPS Verulam for further investigation.
The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement authorities work to determine the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s operations.
