Polokwane, Limpopo — The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety impounded 11 scholar transport vehicles in Ladanna, Polokwane, on Wednesday after discovering multiple violations of transport laws.
According to authorities, the vehicles were operating in breach of permit conditions, roadworthiness standards, and learner safety regulations.
The impoundments are part of an ongoing provincial enforcement programme targeting the scholar transport sector.
“This operation is aimed at restoring order, discipline, and compliance within the scholar transport sector,” a spokesperson from the department said.
“Similar operations are continuing across Limpopo to ensure the safety of learners.”
Parents and guardians were urged to verify the legality and safety of the transport services they use.
“We strongly advise parents to ensure that scholar transport services are legally registered, roadworthy, and fully compliant with all safety requirements,” the spokesperson added.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has indicated that such enforcement measures will continue as part of a province-wide initiative to prioritise learner safety and reduce risks associated with non-compliant transport vehicles.
