Johannesburg – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has urged the Hawks to launch an immediate investigation into Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen and Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister Willie Aucamp over allegations of facilitating the commercial trade of lion bones.
The party claims the ministers and the Democratic Alliance (DA) abused public office for private gain, contradicting the DA’s image of “clean governance,” MK spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said on Friday during an interview with SABC News.

The accusations stem from disclosures by an individual named George, raising concerns of corruption and ethical breaches, according to IOL.
Ndlela confirmed the MK Party will file additional ethics complaints with Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests against both ministers to supplement an existing case against Steenhuisen.
The party also called on the Public Protector to assist the Hawks and plans to report related claims involving Steenhuisen’s spouse to Morningside police station in Sandton for transparency.
Ndlela criticised the Government of National Unity as an “elite arrangement” shielding corruption, vowing the MK Party’s commitment to exposing impunity.
