Durban – Six people were injured in a motor vehicle collision on the southbound lane of the R102 between the Canelands and Mountview traffic light-controlled intersections on Monday morning.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said the crash involved a blue Renault Triber and a white Isuzu bakkie that was stationary on the yellow line.
“Members of Reaction Unit South Africa arrived on scene and established that a blue Renault Triber was travelling southbound when it collided with a white Isuzu bakkie that was stationary on the yellow line,” RUSA said.
According to RUSA, the driver of the Isuzu bakkie had allegedly pulled over after stopping to urinate. The driver of the Renault Triber told responders that he failed to notice that the bakkie was stationary.
“The driver of the Renault stated that he did not notice the bakkie was stationary and subsequently crashed into it,” RUSA said.
As a result of the collision, six occupants of the Isuzu bakkie sustained injuries. Emergency responders treated the injured at the scene before they were transported to hospital by ambulance for further medical care.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are expected to be investigated.
