Tongaat – A 1.2-metre Mozambican Spitting Cobra was safely captured at a residential property on Conifer Drive in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday afternoon.
The snake was discovered sheltering beneath an unused dog kennel, prompting the homeowners to call for professional assistance.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Area Manager Nkosinathi Ndaba responded to the scene.
He confirmed that the highly venomous snake was positively identified and safely contained without incident.

“The Mozambique Spitting Cobra carries potent neurotoxic and cytotoxic venom,” Ndaba said, warning residents to exercise caution when encountering snakes.
Authorities urged the public to immediately contact emergency response services if they spot any potentially dangerous reptiles in residential areas.
