Durban – Police in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating the murder of four family members who were fatally shot during an armed robbery at Mdweshule in the Mehlomyama policing area on Wednesday night.
According to police, four suspects forced their way into a rondavel, demanded money and shot a 45-year-old man dead after being told there was none.
“It is alleged by the witness that four unknown males kicked open the door of the rondavel in which she was in with her fiancé,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza said.
He further said that three of the suspects had guns, while the fourth was armed with a bush knife.
The woman was then allegedly forced to lead the attackers to the main house on the property, where a mother and her two daughters were shot and killed.
The suspects fled the scene with two cellphones, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.
