Limpopo — Two drivers were killed and six bus passengers injured, four of them critically, in a head-on collision between a heavy motor vehicle and a bus on the N1 near Musekene on Christmas Day.
According to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, the crash occurred at about 08:30 on 25 December 2025 on the N1-29, between Masekwa Bricks and Masekena Garage in the Vhembe district.
“The collision involved an Isuzu Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) and a bus,” the department said in a statement issued to clarify reports about the incident.
“The HMV driver overtook on a barrier line, colliding head-on with the bus.”

Emergency services declared both drivers — the male drivers of the bus and the HMV — dead at the scene.
“The accident resulted in two male drivers deceased, two passengers from the bus seriously injured, and four passengers from the bus critically injured,” the department said.
The injured passengers were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Preliminary investigations point to dangerous driving.
“The probable cause of the accident is reckless and negligent driving,” the department said.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety urged motorists to exercise caution and obey road rules, especially during the festive season, warning that dangerous overtaking and speeding continue to claim lives on the province’s roads.
