Cape Town – Limpopo police have launched a manhunt after an 80-year-old traditional healer was shot and killed outside his home in the Nwa-Khuwani village near Giyani late on Saturday night.
According to authorities, the victim was lured outside by an unknown man who identified himself as a police detective and told the sangoma there was an outstanding case against him.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the incident occurred around 11:45 pm when the elderly man and his son were asleep and heard a vehicle honking outside the house.
The son went out first and found the stranger standing by a vehicle near the gate, and soon afterwards called his father. Moments after the sangoma stepped outside, the suspect allegedly opened fire multiple times before fleeing the scene.
