Cape Town – The Umkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP) has called on its supporters to march to the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature in Pietermaritzburg as the legislature debates a motion of no confidence in Premier Thami Ntuli, which the party has tabled.
MKP leaders and youth structures have urged members, students and communities to gather at the Unisa campus and march in large numbers to demonstrate support for the motion and to challenge the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) on Monday.
“On December 15, let us gather at the legislature. We are ousting Premier Thami Ntuli. Spread the message far and wide; come all, let’s meet in the morning. We are gathering to oust Ntuli from power. Things are bad; the province should be governed by the party that was voted for by the people,” a leader of MKP Bonginkosi Khanyile, posted on social media.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) have also mobilised their supporters to oppose the motion, warning against efforts to destabilise the province.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has confirmed it will support the motion in the legislature, saying the GPU lacks legitimacy and has failed to deliver, though it will not mobilise supporters on the ground.
The ANC has said it will defend the GPU and expects the voting numbers that elected the premier to remain unchanged. The IFP has condemned parties backing the motion, accusing them of seeking to create chaos and loot provincial resources.
